Care journey
Ms. Asmara's Story.
In later life, Ms. Asmara still keeps busy. She is active in an osteoporosis exercise community and involved in anti-smoking activities. To those around her, she is known as someone who cares about her health. To support all of this, she has kept one habit for a long time: having regular medical check-ups, even when she feels well.
Why She Gets Checked Regularly
Ms. Asmara has no complaints. She feels healthy and says she never feels unwell, and she was very happy that her check-up results were good. Even so, she sees health checks as part of looking after herself. "I want to stay healthy, stay fit and be able to carry out all the activities that suit my age," she said.
The pandemic changed her routine for a while. Because she was advised not to leave home, she had only one check-up during the pandemic. By the time she went for her next one, about two years had passed since her previous check-up.
Choosing Heartology for Her Check-Up
Ms. Asmara had heard about Heartology, and a friend also suggested she get checked there. After that gap of about two years, she chose Heartology for her next check-up. A medical check-up is a series of tests in a single visit to assess your health, including your heart health, early on, even before any symptoms appear. The tests depend on the package chosen, for example blood tests and an ECG, and the results are then discussed with a doctor.
She was pleased with her experience and felt the staff were friendly and welcoming. "It turned out I received very satisfying service," she said.
A Message for All Ages
From her experience, Ms. Asmara recommends having check-ups as often as possible. In her view, older people should be checked at least once a year, and every six months if possible. When the video was recorded, she herself looked fit and was still active in her community activities. "Health is what matters most, especially for older people," she said.
Her message is also for the younger generation. She sees many young people busy with work and believes that working should go hand in hand with looking after their health. If you have never had a check-up, or it has been a while, her experience is a reminder that routine checks do not need to wait for symptoms. You can discuss how often to be checked with your doctor, based on your age and health.
Every journey is different. This is a personal experience. Each person's condition, treatment options, and outcomes may differ.
