Your situation

Are You Facing One of These Situations?

Every heart decision feels big, for patients and for the family members beside them. If one of these situations sounds familiar, you can start asking here.

Your questions

No Question Is Too Small When It Comes to Your Heart.

If something still makes you hesitate, ask. We help you understand the diagnosis, the treatment options, and what to consider before you decide.

Ask a Heart Consultant (opens in a new tab)
  • Is this procedure really necessary?
  • Does it have to be done now, or is there still time?
  • Are there other options relevant to my condition?
  • What are the specific benefits and risks for me?
  • What might happen if the procedure is postponed?
  • Which doctor suits this case?

How it works

How Does a Second Opinion Work at Heartology?

Six steps, with a Heart Consultant as your navigator from start to finish.

  1. Tell Us About Your Condition

Contact us on WhatsApp or fill in a short form. Tell us about your condition or the family member you would like to consult about.

  2. A Heart Consultant Helps You

The Heart Consultant listens to your needs, answers initial questions, and helps decide the next step.

  3. Prepare the Test Results You Have

Send or bring results such as an ECG, echocardiogram, CT scan, lab results, or medical records you already have.

  4. Consult the Right Doctor for Your Case

We connect you with a specialist or subspecialist whose expertise suits your condition.

  5. Heart Meeting for Complex Cases

For more complex cases, doctors discuss your case with a team from several specialties at Heartology in a Heart Meeting, so the recommendation is based on a thorough review. Not every case needs a Heart Meeting.

  6. Understand the Recommendation, Then Decide with Your Family

You receive an explanation of the recommendation, the options, the benefits, the risks, and the next steps. The decision stays with you and your family.

Come with questions. Leave with understanding and clearer next steps.

Doctors are assigned based on the clinical condition, the available medical data, and their schedules. If a case needs more than one specialty, it can be discussed together in a Heart Meeting. The Heart Consultant will explain which doctor suits your case before a schedule is set.

Why Heartology

Why Ask Heartology?

A Patient and Family Centered Experience

You are heard without being rushed, receive clear explanations, and take part in every decision. Family members are welcome to accompany you, discuss, and ask questions to better understand the condition and the treatment options.

A Multidisciplinary Heart Team

Heartology is supported by a multidisciplinary Heart Team of specialists and support staff. Cases are reviewed from several perspectives so the recommendation fits the patient's needs.

Heart Meeting for Complex Cases

Cases that need further consideration can be discussed in a Heart Meeting with doctors from several disciplines, so the recommendation is thorough.

Relevant Options Explained

We help you understand the treatment options that suit the clinical condition, including the benefits, risks, and considerations. If only one option suits your case, the reasons are explained openly.

Doctors with Relevant Expertise

Cardiovascular specialists and subspecialists are chosen to fit each case, for adults and children.

  • PARIPURNA accreditation (LAM-KPRS)
  • Caring for adults and children

Condition areas

Which Condition Would You Like to Be Sure About?

We help patients and families understand heart conditions in adults and children before making decisions about treatment or procedures.

Coronary Heart Disease and Revascularization

When this applies
You have been advised to have catheterization, a stent, or bypass surgery (CABG), or asked to choose between them.
Example questions
Does my blockage need a procedure? Stent or bypass, and what is the basis for the choice? Are tests such as FFR or IVUS relevant to my case?

Aorta and Blood Vessels

When this applies
A widening (aneurysm) or another problem of the aorta or blood vessels has been found, and you face a choice between monitoring, an endovascular procedure (EVAR or TEVAR), or open surgery.
Example questions
When does an aneurysm need treatment? How do the endovascular and open approaches differ for my case? How often do I need monitoring?

Children's Hearts and Congenital Conditions

When this applies
Your child has been diagnosed with a congenital heart condition, or a doctor has recommended a procedure, and you want to understand the options and timing calmly.
Example questions
Does this condition need a procedure now, or can it be monitored? Can the defect be closed without open surgery? How will my child grow and develop after the procedure?

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a second opinion?

A second opinion is an additional assessment by another doctor of a diagnosis or a recommended procedure you have received. It helps you understand the condition, the options, the benefits, and the risks more clearly before you decide.

Does seeking a second opinion mean I do not trust my previous doctor?

No. A second opinion is a normal practice in medicine, especially before a major decision. It can confirm, complement, or add another perspective to the previous recommendation.

What are the Heart Team and the Heart Meeting?

The Heart Team is a multidisciplinary collaboration of doctors at Heartology. Cases that need further consideration can be discussed in a Heart Meeting with doctors from the relevant fields. Not every case needs a Heart Meeting; doctors decide based on clinical need.

Do I have to repeat all my tests?

Not always. Doctors review the medical data you already have first. Additional tests are recommended only when they are needed to complete the evaluation.

Can my family come with me?

Yes, and we encourage it. Family members can join the conversation with the Heart Consultant and the consultation with the doctor, and decisions are made together.

Do I have to continue treatment at Heartology?

No. Doctors give recommendations; the decision stays with you and your family, including if you choose to continue care elsewhere.

Which documents should I prepare?

See the document checklist on this page. You do not need to wait until all documents are complete to start; the Heart Consultant will explain which ones are relevant. Medical files are not uploaded through any form on the website; sending them is guided through an official channel.

What if I have emergency symptoms?

A second opinion is not an emergency service. If you have severe chest pain, severe shortness of breath, reduced consciousness, or a rapidly worsening condition, call the Heart Attack Center at 1500 258 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for a consultation appointment.

What about payment and insurance?

The service can be paid for personally. Coordination with insurance can be arranged; coverage depends on each policy and insurer. The Heart Consultant will help explain the process.

What happens after I get in touch?

The Heart Consultant greets you, does a brief safety screening, understands the decision you face, explains the relevant documents, and then directs your case to a doctor with the right expertise, including offering a consultation schedule based on urgency and doctor availability.
