Is This Package Right for You?

Who This Package Is For

Regular exercise is good for your heart, but hard training puts heavy demands on it, and some heart conditions only cause symptoms when the body is pushed hard. Cardiac Sportacular is designed for people who train regularly, sports enthusiasts, and anyone about to start high-intensity training who wants to know how their heart is doing before increasing the load.

What the Tests Look At

  • ECG and treadmill test: an ECG records your heart's electrical activity at rest, including rhythm and conduction patterns. During the treadmill test, your heart tracing and blood pressure are monitored while you walk at a speed and incline that increase step by step.
  • Echocardiography: an ultrasound of the heart that shows chamber size, muscle thickness, and the valves. In people who train regularly, the heart muscle can adapt; your doctor assesses whether the changes seen are expected or need a closer look.
  • Coronary calcium score: a CT scan without contrast injection that measures calcium deposits in the walls of the coronary arteries, one sign of plaque.
  • Lab tests, ABI, chest X-ray, and BIA: cholesterol, blood sugar, uric acid, and kidney and liver function; ABI compares blood pressure at your ankles and arms; BIA measures body fat and muscle.

On the Day

The checkup takes about 2 to 3 hours, and you do not need to stay overnight. Come after fasting for 10 to 12 hours for the blood draw, wearing comfortable workout clothes and shoes. The visit includes a physical exam with a general practitioner, a blood draw, ECG, echocardiography, calcium score CT, treadmill test, ABI, chest X-ray, and BIA. Our staff will guide you through the order.

Going Over Your Results

Full results are ready in 2 to 3 working days. A cardiologist explains the findings and what they mean for the type and intensity of your training. A clinical nutrition specialist helps you plan meals that support your training. A normal result does not mean zero risk, so symptoms that appear during exercise still need to be checked.

This Package Is Designed for

  • Active people who exercise regularly, such as running, cycling, or swimming
  • Sports enthusiasts who want to know how their heart is doing
  • Anyone about to start high-intensity training or preparing for an endurance event such as a marathon
  • Anyone who wants regular heart checks while training
  • Anyone who wants to adjust training intensity based on a doctor's advice

Understand What the Results Mean and Their Limits.

Results Need to Be Read in Context.

A health checkup helps identify risk factors and early findings. A good result does not guarantee the absence of disease, and some findings may need further tests.

A checkup package does not replace a doctor's assessment of symptoms. If you have severe or sudden symptoms, go to the nearest emergency department right away or call Heart Attack Center 1500 258, rather than waiting for a checkup appointment.

Educational basis: NHS, benefits and limits of screening. The right package is decided with a doctor.

Checkup coverage depends on your insurer's rules and your policy. Ask about the documents and approvals you need before the checkup.

Questions before You Book.

Answers to questions active people often ask before booking this package.

What should I do to prepare?

Fast for 10 to 12 hours before the blood draw; drinking plain water is usually fine. Avoid hard training the day before so your body is rested. Wear workout clothes and comfortable shoes for the treadmill. Bring a list of the medicines and supplements you take. Tell our staff if you are or might be pregnant, because the package includes an X-ray and a CT scan.

What happens during the treadmill test?

Small electrodes are placed on your chest to record your heart. You walk on a treadmill whose speed and incline rise step by step while staff monitor your heart tracing and blood pressure. The test stops when the target is reached or if you feel chest pain, dizziness, or severe shortness of breath. Tell the staff at any point if you feel unwell during the test.

Does the calcium score CT involve an injection or radiation?

The calcium score CT in this package does not use contrast, so there is no needle. It uses X-rays at a relatively low radiation dose. You lie on the CT table for a few minutes and are asked to hold your breath briefly while the images are taken. The result is a calcium score for your coronary arteries, which your doctor reviews together with your other risk factors.

How is this package different from the other checkup packages?

Cardiac Sportacular combines a treadmill test, echocardiography, and a coronary calcium score, so your doctor can assess your heart both at rest and under exertion. If you already have a coronary stent, Heal & Beat (Post PCI) is a better fit. If your main concern is the arteries in your neck and legs and your stroke risk, choose Vascular Health & Wellness, which includes Doppler ultrasound of those arteries but no treadmill test.

When are results ready, and what happens if something is abnormal?

Full results are ready in 2 to 3 working days, and a cardiologist goes over them with you. If something stands out, the doctor explains what it means and may suggest further tests or changes to your training. Do not wait for a checkup if you have severe chest pain, severe shortness of breath, palpitations with near fainting, or fainting during exercise: stop exercising and go to the emergency department right away.
